Cui Qi, a Chinese teacher of special grade, was awarded the title, teacher of special grade, in 2001. She was born in April, 1956 in Beijing. She was elected as a first-batch national key teacher in 2000, the Chinese teacher of special grade in 2001, Advanced Worker of Tsinghua University in 2001, and Outstanding Teacher of Beijingand Pacesetter of Teacher in 2004. She was an instructor in Outstanding Teachers' Workstation in Haidian District.

After graduating from Beijing Normal University, she taught Chinese at Tsinghua University High School for 30 years. She worked as a class adviser for 10 years and later worked as the head of Chinese teaching and research group of Tsinghua University for 15 years continuously. Throughout the 30 years teaching career, she was always in the teaching forefront and concentrated on studies of reading and writing. Her monographs on research of reading was awarded Beijing Education Science Research Basic Education Special Award. Apart from this, some of her papers won the first prize and grand prize in national and municipal level.

She instructed several students to win first prizes in the National Junior Students' Composition Competition. She edited the Tsinghua University High School students' writing achievements, such as Familiar Strangeness (collection of high school composition), Numerousand Complicated Simplicity (collection of high school exploratory works), and Vivid Preciseness (collection of outstanding students' essays). She also edited the best-sellers like Dark Horse of Reading-Middle School Students Extracurricular Reading and Talk to The Mouse-Interactive Essay Selection, and instructed reading and writing for millions of middle school students.
