Yan Mengxing, a chemistry teacher of special grade, got the title in 2001. He was born in May, 1947 and used to be a student of Tsinghua University High School. He was a chemistry educational researcher, director of Chemistry Teaching Research Association of Beijing and part-time master's supervisor of Beijing Normal University.
He instructed students to participate in the competitions and win awards, and two of his students got a gold medal and a silver gold separately in the International Chemical Olympiad. He published 181 papers. His Benzenoid Aromatic Hydrocarbon Lectures won the first prize in the First National Outstanding Achievements of Primary and Secondary School Teachers' Educational Innovation Research. The Structuralization and Proceduralization of Chemistry Teaching in Middle School was given the first prize by Chinese Education Association's Chemistry Teaching Research Association. Enlightenment of Molecule of the Year on Middle School Chemistry Teaching won the first prize in Review on National Achievement of Education and Scientific Research. Experimental Research and History of Chemistry Teaching Design won the first prize in National Achievement of Basic Education and Research. Reflections on Ceramic and Glass Teaching won the first prize in Achievement of National Level Education and Research. Research on Chemistry Teaching in Middle School won the first prize in the 4th Beijing Outstanding Achievement of Education and Scientific Research. The nine-year compulsory education chemistry textbooks, which Yan Mengxing participated in compiling, were chosen as the National A-Level Textbooks. Yan Mengxing also participated in compiling Beijing 21st century textbooks on chemistry for junior middle schools and national high schools' new curriculum standard textbooks (Chemistry 1, Chemistry 2). In 2000, he published his own monographic series, Collection on Middle School Chemistry Education.
