At 7:00 a.m., the national flag-raising ceremony officially began. The members of the national flag honor guard carried themselves tall and escorted the bright five-starred red flag to the flagpole in vigorous strides. The marching band played the passionateMarch of the Volunteerswhen the bright five-starred red flag rose slowly. All teachers and students stood at attention and gazed at the flag.

Qiu Yong, President of Tsinghua University, the host of the national flag-raising ceremony, stood under the national flag and delivered a speech to the present teachers and students. Later, the student art troupe, teachers and representatives of medical staffs aiding Hubei jointly performed the poetry recitation named "The National Flag Raises Here in the Morning". Chen Xu, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committe, delivered a speech entitled "Act Devotedly and Ambitiously to Contribute to Our Country's Prosperity" under the national flag.
