YangJianyu, a Chinese teacher of special grade, was awarded the special grade teacher title in 2005. He was born in May, 1948. He was the academic leader of Chinese, a director of Beijing Chinese Language Teaching and Research Association, a director of Beijing One Helps One Association, a guest editor of Zuo Wen Tong Xun, a member of expert group of Outstanding Teachers' Workstation in Haidian District, a member of Western Returned Scholars Association Chinese Overseas-Educated Scholars Association.

Yang Jianyu has worked on Chinese language teaching for over 30 years and has a wealth of teaching experiences. He has created a teaching method and a review method, Two Excellent and One More and Two Promotes and Two Combinations. He has participated in evaluating and editing the national leveled Chinese textbooks. He has profound insight in the way of research on language and thought, as well as reading and writing. Some of his publications won national and municipal leveled awards. Since he is a knowledgeable, humorous and amiable teacher with an easy to understand and vivid teaching method in class, he is very popular among the students. He was awarded as Outstanding Teacher of Beijing and Students' Favorite Teacher.

Yang Jianyu retired from Tsinghua University High School in 2008, later he worked for Tsinghua International School for a year and was re-employed by Tsinghua University High School-Chaoyang School in 2010. He is still working at Tsinghua University High School-Chaoyang School now, which is as honorable as a soldier's extended service in the army. He is called as Smiling Flower (a term of endearment) by his students since he has an affable teaching manner and wears a bright smile all the time.
