Shao Guangyan, a mathematics teacher of special grade, was awarded the title in 1998. He was born in March, 1943 and became a teacher in Tsinghua University High School after graduating from university in 1964. He retired in 2004. He served as a counselor of the school, and enjoyed a special allowance from the government and expert allowance from both Beijing and Haidian District.
Shao Guangyan tried his best to explore the effective methods of training students' thought during classes and it brought about positive effects. He won Beijing High Quality Class Award and published several papers on journals. Apart from these, he has been a part-time educational researcher and academic leader in Haidian District Teachers Training College for a long time.
He has been the head of the grade and the mathematics teaching and research group for many years. He cares about the vocational development of young teachers. The young teachers in his mathematics teaching and research group have developed into the backbone of the school. By now, some of them have been awarded the teachers of special grade.
He has been working on the cultivation of classy students in mathematics and nearly 100 of his students have won awards in national and municipal competitions. In the 32th and 33th International Mathematics Competitions, his students won the honor for our country by getting four gold medals altogether. He was once awarded as Beijing Science and Technology Park Gardener and worked as a senior coach of the Chinese Mathematical Olympiad.
In addition, he took part in compiling the experimental textbooks for the key middle schools in Beijing. He was an editor of the current high school mathematics textbooks (People's Education Press Edition B) and compiler of MBA entrance examination's mathematics materials. He was also a national judge of Su Buqing Mathematics Teaching Award, Government Special Allowance Recipient, and Beijing Excellent Young People.
