Tsinghua University High School Celebrates 110 Years of Excellence with Achievement Exhibition

On October 18, 2025 Tsinghua University High School (THUHS) held its 110th Anniversary Achievement Exhibition under the theme "A Century and a Decade of Glory: Honoring Our Legacy, Forging the Future".

In a congratulatory letter, Liu Yandong, THUHS alumna and former Vice Premier of the State Council, extended warm congratulations and sincere greetings to the school’s faculty, staff, and alumni worldwide. She affirmed the THUHS’s active role in advancing educational reform, contributing to national development, and promoting the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, also expressing her wishes for the school’s continued prosperity and new accomplishments in cultivating talent.

Attendees included Zhu Dongbin, Deputy Director of the Department of Basic Education, Ministry of Education; Li Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Education Work Committee of the CPC Beijing Committee and Director of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission; Du Rongzhen, Secretary of the Haidian District Education Work Committee and Director of the Haidian District Education Commission; Xu Qinghong, Vice Secretary of the Tsinghua University Party Committee; Fang Yan, Principal of Tsinghua University High School. Cao Haixiang, Party Secretary of THUHS, read the congratulatory letter during the ceremony.

Overview of the event venue

Zhu Dongbin expressed the hope that THUHS would continue to pioneer innovation and set new benchmarks for basic education nationwide.

Li Yi highlighted the school’s exemplary achievements as one of Beijing’s first model high schools and a key institution affiliated with a Ministry-level university.

Du Rongzhen encouraged THUHS to further leverage its leadership within the school consortium, contributing to Haidian District’s vision of becoming a national model for educational excellence and talent development.

Xu Qinghong emphasized the school’s mission to align with national priorities and utilize Tsinghua University’s resources to nurture future leaders.

Principal Fang Yan noted that the torch of history has now been passed to a new generation of THUHS faculty and students, urging everyone to continue striving with dedication and pride.

Zhao Qinggang and Wang Dianjun, as representatives of former leaders of THUHS, shared their insights. Past "Principal’s Award" recipients and representatives of retired teachers also reflected on their years of dedication and hard work while at THUHS.

Liu Jun, Xinhua Excellence Chair Professor and Director of the Department of Statistics and Data Science at Tsinghua University, shared his academic journey and bond with THUHS as an alumnus. Other alumni representatives also shared their personal stories.

THUHS has also contributed to promoting balanced educational development. Supported by Tsinghua University, it has established a school consortium operation of nearly thirty schools within and beyond Beijingand providing targeted assistance to over ten schools in underdeveloped regions. Five representatives shared their experiences at the event.

The celebration featured artistic performances by current faculty, student and alumni across generations, including situational dramas, choral pieces, and poetry readings. A special themed performance titled "Nurturing New Growth in Education" was also held on the same day.
