On May 23rd, the 8th Student Day of Tsinghua University High School entitled "Flying with 'Cloud', Youth in Fighting COVID-19" comes to a successful conclusion. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Student Day is held online by Online Class of Tsinghua University High School, Bilibili, and Tencent Meeting. All teachers and students meet via Cloud, participating in watch nearly 6,000 in total.

In his opening speech, Wang Dianjun, Principal of Tsinghua University High School expressed his expectation for this grand “Cloud” event, and shared his understanding of the theme and significance of the Student Day. He hopes the students could take advantage of this opportunity to discover a wider world while looking inward for the more authentic self, shoulder the development mission assigned by the new era, and become responsible persons with the sense of social responsibility and an ambition of contributing to the world by continuous knowledge accumulation, skills learning and morality cultivation. He wishes the Student Day a complete success.

“Insight into Matters”, as the traditional debate competition for students of Senior Grade 1, is still organized online in full swing this year. The highlights of preliminaries and finals carefully edited by the Subject Department were shown to the audience, displaying the spark with intelligence.

Display of students’ innovation projects
Tsinghua University High School has always been focusing on the cultivation of students' innovative capabilities. To this end, the Science and Technology Office of school organized the following two activities: display of students’ innovation projects and “Cloud” popularization of science.
The activity to display students’ innovation projects provides a platform for students to show their novel or practical ideas intensively. On top of that, six high-tech research laboratories shared their recent research results and future visions, which incorporated multiple elements including popular science experiments, experience interaction, cultural and creative products, etc. Students of high-tech research laboratories provided an audio-visual feast through live broadcast.
The “Cloud” popularization of science organized online co-sponsored by Tsinghua University High School, SenseTime, AWS, ESRI, Tsinghua Innovation Education and Training Center, IBM, Tencent and other technology enterprises, it invited top experts in the industry to share a full range of hardcore science popularization including career planning, artificial intelligence, geographic information technology, future city, IBM mainframe, design thinking, etc. With the support of the Information Center of school, a live broadcast platform was built with AWS to help students learn about technology enterprises via Cloud and explore cutting-edge black technologies.

“Cloud” auction of art works
As of May 18th, 2020, the "Cloud" Auction Organizing Committee had received more than 160 works from the students of Tsinghua University High School. The finalists included 10 paintings, 9 calligraphy works, 10 handicrafts and 10 computer design and works in other categories. The "Cloud" auction is broadcast live through Bilibili, attracting nearly 2,000 viewers. After students return to school, the school will arrange the delivery of these auctioned works offline. The amount of proceeds from the auction higher than the price set by the owner will be donated to the "Little Banyan Tree" Student Public Welfare Activities Fund of Tsinghua University High School.

Distinct ingenuity -- exhibition of the cultural and creative products regarding the campus
The activity organizer collected the cultural and creative products regarding the campus designed by students in advance, and exhibited them for sales on the Student Day. Canvas bags, bookmarks, pen containers, storage boxes, key chains, puzzles and other cultural and creative products with unique characteristics of the school receive favorable reviews from students. To spread love both inside and outside the campus, the designers promise to donate at least 50% of the proceeds from the sales of the products to the "Little Banyan Tree" Student Public Welfare Activities Fund.

Students had been studying online at home for nearly 4 months as a result of COVID-19. They recorded all the dribs and drabs during this period in the form of vlog and turned them into wonderful works of art.
