Xu Wenbing, a math teacher of special grade, was awarded this title in December, 2014. Born in July 1973, he holds a doctor's degree and the position of vice-principal of Tsinghua University High School. Xu Wenbing is a "gold-medal coach for the Mathematics Olympiad", a "senior coach for Chinese Mathematical Olympiad(CMO)", "excellent coach for National Mathematical Olympiad in Senior", "Excellent Teacher in Beijing", "Academic Leader in Beijing", supervisor of Master of Education in Northeast Normal University, mathematics supervisor in Haidian teachers' station. Xu edited and published five books and more than 70 papers, and successfully tutored about 100 students who won prizes in various mathematics competitions.
Xu holds the educational principle of imparting "math with vitality", in which vitality is reflected in the five following qualities: vividness, where abstract mathematical concepts meet with the real life, leaving students with the impression that math is everywhere in their lives; growth, in which students are able to learn new knowledge from their previous knowledge and methods; extensiveness, where the imparted knowledge is renewable and growing and students are required to think in greater depth and ask new questions; flexibility, where the chosen examples allow students of all capabilities to solve problems in their own ways; and willingness, under the proper guidance of the teachers, students are able to actively participate in math learning and enjoy themselves throughout this process.
