In the afternoon of October 18th, Tsinghua University High School held the 104th anniversary celebration of the founding of the school with the theme of “Ode to the Motherland, Remembrance of Shi Tiesheng”. The guests present at the event were Liu Ming of Tsinghua Alumni Association Art Troupe, Wu Yu from Beijing People's Art Theatre, Wan Yongde, Liu Yu and Xing Yi of junior high school graduates enrolled in 1964 from the school, Wang Mai of high school graduate enrolled in 1962 from the school, Pang Yun and Wang Xiaoping of high school graduates enrolled in 1965 from the school. The school leaders attending the event included the Principle Wang Dianjun, the Secretary of Party Committee Fang Yan, the Deputy Secretary of Party Committee Zhang Jie, the Vice Principle Bai Xuefeng and Xu Wenbing, and Wang Yingmin, the head of Tsinghua University High School Alumni Association.

The anniversary celebration is divided into two parts. The theme of the first part is "Suffering Journey".

The theme of the second part is “Spark of Life”. Over the past 104 years, the alumni of Tsinghua University High School in all walks of life have made outstanding contributions to the country with the spirit of “Self-Discipline and Social Commitment”. Shi Tiesheng, a famous writer who used to be a member of China Writers Association, vice chairman of Beijing Writers Association, vice chairman of China Disabled Persons’ Federation, is an outstanding representative of the graduates of the school. By virtue of his indomitable will, Shi Tiesheng devoted his whole life to literary creation and showed his inner optimism, innocence and kindness between the lines from his profound works, which were all the sparks of life. Shi Tiesheng's classmates, Wan Yongde, Liu Yu and Xing Yi, recalled the time when they studied together with Shi Tiesheng, and told the stories about Shi Tiesheng in their memory.

The students from the Drama Club of Tsinghua University High School paid homage to Shi Tiesheng in the form of original play. "Shi Tiesheng is one of the most outstanding souled writers in Chinese Contemporary Literature field, which is another important reason for my writing of the play namedShi Tiesheng," said the play writer and director Xiang Dongjia, “We hope people can renew the understanding of Shi Tiesheng, to see the warmth and sublimation of the life and understand the spirit of ‘Self-Discipline and Social Commitment’, which is regarded as a way to obtain spiritual liberation and freedom through introspection after they watch the play."

The success of the play depends on the hard work of everyone behind it. Tang Ye, the famous director of Beijing People's Art Theatre, gave careful guidance to the play. Ms. Wu Yu made comments and spoke very highly of the play after the performance.
