Bring your Buddies

On Saturday, December 15, students at THSI’s Saturday Academy had a Christmas celebration. All Saturday Academy students were invited to bring a friend to join the THSI international learning. After experiencing the innovative, all-English teaching program, students went to the café for a Christmas celebration.

Traditional English Christmas Carols welcomed students to the café, where they could choose a center for interesting, English-based activities.

Students at the Gingerbread Houses Workshop built beautiful gingerbread houses, and Ms. Siri showed everyone how to decorate them with candies and gumdrops.

At another workshop, students played Holiday Bingo with Ms. Trenease, practicing numbers and the names of holiday characters in English to win Christmas pins as prizes.

3. Bakery Workshop

Students especially enjoyed rolling out cookie dough for Christmas sugar cookies, which they cut into holiday shapes with help from Ms. Merey. Ms. Feney put the cookies into the oven. Once the cookies were baked, Ms. Alida helped the students make icing and use candy sprinkles to decorate the cookies.

Another workshop featured a festive backdrop and students could take Polaroid photos to keep as souvenirs. Younger students had a chance to play musical chairs with Ms. Vicky and Ms. Sisi to win a prize.

Christmas movies in English were played on the giant screen for students to enjoy. At noon, parents joined in the party and had a festive lunch including pizza and snack. THSI Saturday Academy wishes everyone a happy winter holiday and we look forward to seeing you in the spring.
