Cao Lingwei, Qian Cheng and Tian Yuyang completed the paper titled "Evaluation and Prediction of Cell Phone Sales Based on Various Techniques" (Instructor: Wang Dianjun, Wu Hao). With the advancement and development of science and technology, online shopping is gradually favored by young people, and this paper comprehensively utilizes information entropy theory, Bayesian Discriminant, BP neural network and XG Boosting to build a model which analyzes the key impact factors on mobile phone sales and its sales forecasting. Mathematical methods are applied in the field of economics to achieve an innovative exploration and research. This method has played a guiding role in today’s mobile phone sales and optimization strategies, and has high economic and practical application value.

The S.-T. Yau High School Science Award was initiated in 2008 by Prof. Shing-Tung Yau. By now, it has an overall framework of science award, including six disciplines: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computing, and economic and financial modeling. This year, a total of 2,000 students of 1,500 teams from more than 360 middle schools joined the competition. The Chinese teams came from 30 provinces and their counterparts were from the United States, Britain and Singapore. A total of 577 effective papers were submitted from 14 sub-contest areas. After preliminary screening, correspondence evaluation, and table evaluation, a total of 119 teams were into the semi-final.

The S.-T. Yau High School Science Award is accessible to all Chinese middle school students around the world, advocating innovative thinking and teamwork, discarding test papers and standard answers, allowing students to participate in the form of paper submissions. It aims to promote science education for young people, arouse their interest and enhance their research abilities.
